What To Expect

I offer a 30-minute initial consultation via telephone or video-conference with no charge. The aim of this consultation is for me to understand your needs and for you to learn more about me and my style of work. It provides us with an opportunity to consider how we might work together and if it would be a good fit for you.

After booking your first session, you will receive a confirmation email with my therapy contract. It has two-parts, one with further information about my practice and the second part is for you to complete digitally and return to me prior to the session.

On our first meeting, we will spend some time considering what brings you to therapy, any previous experience you had with counselling or therapy, your goals, wishes and preferences. We will also start considering what has been helpful for you so far, the network of support around you and where to start directing our focus of attention as well as the first practical steps to take.

The sessions can be 55 minutes each or longer and they can vary according to the needs and preferences of all those involved in the consultations. How often we meet after the first session is ultimately up to you. I find it helpful to have more frequent sessions at an early stage of the work and then move to less frequent meetings.
