Teresa provides therapy, supervision, training and consultancy in English and Portuguese.

 

Therapy

Everyone struggles at some point in their lives. Research shows that at any one time 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem over the course of a year[i]. Mental Health difficulties are more common than most people realise, but you don’t have to suffer from a serious mental health difficulty to benefit from professional support.

 

If you are:

  • having difficulties in your relationships
  • struggling to lead your life according to your values and goals
  • stuck in unhelpful or unhealthy patterns of behaviour

 

Teresa can help you with these issues. She can help you to:

  • reflect on your patterns of behaviour and relationships;
  • improve communication;
  • realign yourself with your goals and values in life;
  • develop strategies and coping skills;
  • move your life in the direction that is most meaningful to you.

 

Teresa has over twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She has worked with individuals, couples and families with a variety of presenting difficulties. They include:

  • Relationship difficulties: family conflict, couple disharmony, parenting difficulties, friendship strains, work problems, disparity in social or affiliation groups
  • Life and family transitions: loss and bereavement, birth of a child, couple separation or divorce, new family formations, moving to independent living or cohabiting
  • Intense and difficult emotions or experiences: sadness, anger, bullying, discrimination, child aggression, excessive Internet and gaming behaviour, self-harm, depression, anxiety, trauma 
  • Issues around identity and affiliation groups: including race and ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender experience, faith and religion, parenthood, marital status, appearance, age and maturation, ability/disability, educational and professional choices
  • Serious mental health problems or life-long conditions: eating disorders, psychosis, learning difficulties, ADHD, autism, living with a physical illness

Teresa offers therapy to:

It is tailored to each person/family by taking into consideration their needs and preferences.

Teresa reviews the progress, flow and frequency of the sessions on a regular basis and always aims to work with the least number of sessions as possible.

Sessions can be:

  • 55 or 85 minutes each.
  • Weekly to monthly intervals.
  • In-person or online video-conferencing sessions.

Fees

Fees depend on the type of therapy (individual or couple/family therapy), the location and day of sessions. The current scaling fees are as following:

  • Individual sessions (55 min)
    £100: North London, Welwyn Garden City & online
    £120: Saturdays – Welwyn Garden City & online only
  • Couple and family sessions (55 min)
    £120: North London, Welwyn Garden City & online
    £150: Saturdays - Welwyn Garden City & online only
    Longer sessions for couple and family can be arranged upon request
  • Liaison with other professionals, reports and email exchanges - £80 per hour

Payment can be made in cash at the end of each session. Online sessions require bank transfer prior to session.

 

Cancellation Policy 

The cancellation policy depends on the location of the arranged session:

  • In-person/clinic-based sessions:
    Cancellations made less than 48 hrs before the session: 50% of the session cost.
    Cancellations made 3 hrs or less before the session or no-show: 100% of the session cost.
  • Online sessions:
    Cancellations made less than 24 hrs before the session: 50% of the session cost.
    Cancellations made 3 hrs or less before the session or no-show: 100% of the session cost.
